Violet Thistlewaite Is Not a Villain Anymore is a cute romantasy by Emily Krempholtz. Released 18th Nov 2025 by Penguin Random House on their Berkley Ace imprint, it's 368 pages and is available in hardcover, paperback, audio, and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout.
Chock full of whimsy with a few deeper messages about nature, innate goodness, and a grumpy forced proximity romance, it's got a lot going on. The pacing isn't always even, and the back story sometimes feels a bit extraneous to the plot, but overall, it's readable and diverting.
Three and a half stars. It would be a good YA choice, but there are some spicy bits and a boatload of trauma, so a bit iffy for the younger end of the age range at least. It would be a good pick for public or home library, or possibly a good buddy read.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
