Building Wood and Resin River-Style Tables is a technical guide with tutorials for building resin and wood tables by Bradlyn Zimmerman. Released 7th Nov 2022 by Fox Chapel, it's 128 pages and is available in paperback and ebook formats.
This is a graphically appealing, well designed tutorial guide for crafting wood and epoxy resin furniture and decorative items. The introduction does a good job of covering the general concepts, tools, supplies, and finishes (including a great section on live slab wood and epoxy techniques). The following chapters progress with more in-depth step by step techniques for sourcing and choosing live slab wood, preparation, building forms and molds, preparing epoxy, pouring, cutting sanding & machining, making table legs/stands and installing hardware, and a well illustrated chapter on finishing the tutorial table.
The book is beautifully photographed throughout. It's not a book for complete beginners and presupposes some familiarity with woodworking techniques and access to a modestly well equipped woodshop. This would be an excellent choice for public or school library acquisition, maker's groups, workshop use in a classroom/group setting, and of course for the home woodworker.
Five stars.
